Another step to a fantastic studio . . .

This has really been a long drawn out process. Basically because we aren’t load with tons and tons of money!! Which is totally okay in my book, but it just makes it a long wait when you really want to finish up a huge project!!

For some reason, I’m sure the majority of you are feeling me right about now.

Sometime during the summer, I bought an office chair. It was a cool chair. It was from Craigslist {of course.} And it was 10 bucks.

Was it pretty – no.

Did it need a lot of work – you be the judge . . .

I’m thinking you are thinking it does, . . . unless of course, you are into the country blue/Williamsburg blue/early 90’s look {sorry if I just offended anyone.} But the facts are, I’m not into these colors at all. At.All.

Awhile back I also introduced you to this fabric . . .

I really have no idea if I told you it was for my chair and I have no idea where that post is at and it really doesn’t matter because I’m not going to ask you to look at it anyways. But I’ll tell ya’ now that it was for my chair. And without making you wait any longer, here she is . . .

Now if you hover over the above photo, you will notice this picture is named “halfway chair.” Why? Because it is. Look at the bottom! Those legs are naked! When it gets warmer, I’ll paint those jokers white.  Ignore the other stuff in the picture! I’m moving furniture around and I thought last minute I needed to tell you about my chair! I also wanted to take the arms off – but . . . the back wouldn’t have stayed on since the arms actually support it – boo. My $10 chair would have look EXACTLY like the one in Ballard Design for $550.

And as a reminder, here are the window treatments. The chair is really the only over-the-top-funky I’m doing. And it has dots. We all know how I feel about dots! The two fabrics coordinate very well, but the dot fabric reflects the light and looks more limey-er than it is in person.

Now, basically all I have left is painting the furniture. All white. Yes, I’ve decided on white – due to reflection issues when I take pictures. But it is way too cold to paint, so all that is on hold till the spring! My paint table {above} will be white with a nice thick sheet of glass on top! {Can’t wait.} I also have the buffet {Craigslist find} table and the chicken coop table to paint. And we are seriously tackling this project on the first warm weekend we have in March or April. I’ve got the paint and I’m ready to going with it.

Surprisingly, I love the look of all the paint on my paint table and you know it could really tell a story with all those paint streaks, but it is getting too bumpy to paint on!

Well, I teased you enough! I’m actually on my way to take Hudson to the doctor. He is still sick and now his face {and especially his eyes} are swollen – that usually means one thing . . . it’s back – that stupid nephrotic syndrome.

A bit about vinyl, copying and making a project harder than it should!

Months, or maybe even a year ago, I saw some of that vinyl lettering I LOVED. Loved so much, I had to have it! The funny part was when I bought it, I was asked, “Can’t you just paint that?” I’m sure I could, uh . .  but that would be copying! Here is the thing, the majority of the high {for me} comes from the actual thought when creating something original. And since this wasn’t my idea, I sure didn’t want to paint it!

Summed that up for ya’ – I still need to vlog about copying. And I will do . . . eventually!

Back to my vinyl story . . . My boys have this nook thing behind the door when you walk into their room. I’ve blogged about this space often. When we first moved in, it housed the gi-nomous fish tank. But, we grew tired of taking care of that monstrosity, and decided to put a better use to the space.

{current state of the corner – as of last night.}

Nothing fancy, just a good use of the space. I have more artwork that needs to be framed . . . I just haven’t worked that into my day yet. I have referred to this as the “Reading Corner” since its creation. So when I saw the vinyl lettering, it was a must!

But who said this crap was easy??? Oh.my.word! I’m pretty sure we made this much harder than it was suppose to be. It was easy to find the center from left to right on the glass, but then the center from top to bottom, with 2 different layers was a whole ‘nother story!!! I still have an “alphagator” to do and I’m skeerd!!! Does anyone want to come over and help me or maybe do it for me?! My husband and I started out laughing at how hard we were making it and then it turned to anger real quickly. We are just now talking to each other again.

Don’t get me wrong, the finished piece is awesome and completely perfect. I do wish it would have fit over the shelves or even suspended from the ceiling – but it didn’t or wouldn’t work either of those ways, so really I don’t know why I brought it up – it is perfect for what it is!

I know you can’t tell, but the “Reading” is in a fun spring-like green and the “corner” is in a sparkly blue – that’s right “sparkly blue!” It is so hard to tell in these pictures. Let’s get a closer view . . . .

Or maybe a closer view of that sparkly blue . . . .

{I love my camera and this lens. I just wanted to let you all know. What’s that? Yes, you should be jealous.}

My favorite part of this is the sparkly blue. It reminds me of a motorcycle helmet I had when I was a small babe. It was this exact color and sparkly and I swear it looked just like this. I also had a red one and a silver one and I vaguely remember a gold one. Because you know, every 4 or 5 year old needs choices when trying to match her motorcycle helmet to her attire for the day. And the fact that I could even change out my safety head gear during the day if I felt the need was an awesome feeling. And we also referred to the bike as a “motorbike” and not a “motorcycle” because we were just that cool. And from Tennessee. Again, another reason to be jealous of me.

Now, if I can only be that cool for my kids.

More of Em’s room . . .

I didn’t mean to leave you all hanging on her room – promise, I didn’t. And it still is nowhere near being completed. But, . . . I thought I would show you more of it {especially since I’ve gotten a few emails!}

I moved the awesome little painting above her night stand. And put in its place a wire hanger-thinga-ma-jig. I found this several years back at Hobby Lobby for pennies.

I’m sure I’ll change the stuff out periodically. But for now, I had to dig up some stuff from around this camp to fill in the space!

I found her birth announcement and clipped it on {that seems like forever ago!}

An old book mark found in a book that came from an estate auction when I was in high school. I’ve toted this around with me for years with every intention of framing it – maybe one day! The back has a hand written note that reads

1963

Merry Christmas

Love, Aunt Jean

Funny is that I have an Aunt Jean – But I wasn’t quite around in 1963!

The pink “Sweet Dreams” came from Hobby Lobby some time back – BUT I’ve seen it recently.

A yard sale find my first year in college – an old ceiling tin clipped in two pieces and attached together with wire. How I loved this thing! The painted patina, the wire finished off with some curls, endless possibilities with this thing!

A gold beaded “Emme” – just in case she forgets her name.

Ribbon flowers – basically because I had these lying around from a practice something or another and didn’t have the heart to throw them away. So, soooo glad I found them a home!

Lonnie’s mom’s paper doll. She couldn’t believe I had it framed. She said she got it in a birthday card when she turned 5 years old. Uhmm, that was a long, long, l-o-n-g time ago. Much older than that book mark – and probably older than that ceiling tin! At the same time I had this framed, I had something else framed . . . .

Anyone remember these??

It took me an entire nap time to attach these jokers to the mat board. I’m glad I chose to do it. BECAUSE Hobby Lobby charges some crazy amount – like $27 an hour {not exaggerating} to attach things such as this when they do the framing!

I loved how this turned out – thrilled actually.

This replaced the gowns that were on the right side of the windows. I didn’t get rid of the day gowns – they are hanging in a different spot in the room. But the framed flashcards fit so much better in this spot.

One day the room will be complete, just probably not any time soon! haha!
