17 Laney . . .

Had every intentions to post earlier today, but Hudson has been sick {and missed school today.} And we just spent some time together today. Of course if Hudson has anything viral, guess what happens! That right folks, his kidneys go crazy! Yesterday, I pulled the picture of him a few weeks before diagnosis {which has been almost 3 years ago} and then I took his picture. I put them side by side and honestly, I was shocked.

Most people lose weight when they hit that 3 year old marker – instead, he seems to have gained it! He is so swollen he doesn’t look recognizable. If it wasn’t for that crooked smile, I wouldn’t even think he was the same kid. And he is more swollen today. His eyes are like slits and he is so uncomfortable. I have to tell you all that this consumes me. It invades my thoughts constantly. If you want to know exactly what is nephrotic syndrome, this is the BEST explanation I’ve ever found about it. Fortunately, he is “suppose” to grow out of it. We are just waiting till then.

I guess I need to keep painting while I wait!

I finally got a request to paint to match this bedding! I’ve known a couple of people who have purchased this set, but the colors matched the previous nursery – so I’ve never gotten to paint anything for it!

I have to thank a friend, Rachel, for loaning me a piece of this bedding for matching purposes. I wanted to add the blue, but I couldn’t get a good look at it. And the only larger photos {such as the pillow above} did not show all the colors.

Another one marked off the list!

Snowed in . . .

As with most of the South, we are snowed in!! Went to bed with nothing and woke up {around 1:30 am} with inches of snow! A truly magnificent sight!

Unfortunately I have a sick kid! He puked yesterday and has been asleep ever since. Basically, I was going to be trapped anyways. So, I’m glad I didn’t have anywhere to go. It would have been hard to get everyone else to school with a sickie in tow.

I was planning on cooking today – It was chicken and potato day! I hoped to cook off enough meals for the month. Not for the whole month because we eat more than chicken and potatoes. BUT for the meals that require the 2, I was going to cook up and freeze. But now I have a ton of laundry, from a kid ralphing and another one flushing her panties down the toilet. Only I caught her in the act. Only about 8 pair were donate to the sewage plant. But still . . . there were about 8 pair that were in the toilet and the rest were dirty.

Do you know how much size 2T-3T panties cost these days?

Atleast toothpaste is cheaper, since I just spent the past 45 minutes cleaning off a brand new tube of toothpaste that was smeared on all the Toy Story Action Links. I was amazed at how good the room smelled when I walked in. I instantly took a scan of the room and its occupants. The white stuff all over one little girl’s face let me in on the secret that everyone else knew about – everyone but me of course.

The “Great Panty Flush of 2011″ just wasn’t fun enough, we had to add toothpaste to the mix. Now that is loads of fun!

Somebody hide the scissors – I see hair on the floor soon {somebody go ahead and kill me.}

Not only am I having to clean up the pukies, cook chicken and potatoes, wash panties and work on smeared toothpaste, but I have my own hot mess to pick up! But I’m doing it!

AND I’ve answered about half the emails in my inbox!!

AND I’ve almost finished a painting!

I hear the toilet flushing.

I have to go make sure what is in the toilet is suppose to be in the toilet.

Later.

One of the best reasons to blog . . .

I have to tell you guys that the one thing I love about blogging is when you take the time to go back and look at older posts. Today, for fun, I went back to all my November 1st post – and I had one every year I blogged!!

2007

On the first, I found out that my 3rd pregnancy {4th child} was a girl. Good thing too, because I had only visions of vintage chandeliers since the day I found out I was pregnant!

That was also the same month that I did some Christmas tutorials – my favorite was my Christmas wreath!

It was also when I started working on the website you currently visit and had several online boutiques show interest in my art – although I did not take anyone up on their offer. I started offering the 5×5’s. I also had to put my dog down for a tumor on her kidneys – I miss that dog soooo much.

Uhmm, yeah . . . that is a professional picture of my dog. You can’t tell me that it’s not the funniest picture you have seen! That dog was precious! And she loved me so much that she would do anything I asked! Obviously.

AND I was featured on Today’s Creative Blog.

2008

On the first, I helped a friend “surprise” another friend with a painting. It was one of those times when someone ordered their own shower gift – only, they didn’t know it. haha! Since, that has happened many times!

That was the month that I braved it and took all 4 kids out by myself. {Definitely the beginning of the rest of my life!} Emme started standing and it was the month that the ball started turning with all the therapies for the boys. It was also when Hudson had a scary experience and we found out he had a nephrotic syndrome when his kidneys had issues filtering.

And who could forget the Fa la la’s?

And I got great “blog” exposure when blogger chose my blog as the “blog of note” – I had over 7000 hits that day!

Rough month with alot of positives – do they cancel each other out?

2009

On the first, I painted a painting that sorta help start the layered look you see so much of here on my site/blog.

I forgot how I did the tone on tone dots on the white! Will be doing that again really soon!!! LOVE that look! Love this painting! {That is vain!}

I let my kids pick out their own Christmas trees AND went ahead and set them out {I won’t be decorating that early this year!}

And who can forget my beef with Porter and SW paints?? Do you know how many people google this?? I get at least 20 hits a day when I do a keyword analysis. Hysterical!

I finally got a family picture taken!! And then the frenzy began when I painted the Boone! So many loved this “style” of painting.

I didn’t blog about it at this point, but Hudson had a biopsy on his kidneys to confirm his nephrotic syndrome was Minimal Change Disease. I also painted my hutch – and for the record . . . I have not changed her up at all!!! Still love that color just as much – if not more – today!

And my tree was the wackiest and tackiest it had ever been!

2010

. . . . to be continued.
