Nicholas . . .

I am pretty sure I got the flu.

I’m better today. Much better.

And the sun is out! Which means one thing . . . I can take pictures of my art {and of course blog about it!!!!}

Currently, Nicholas’s nursery is chocolate brown, lime green and white. But with the anticipation of his big boy room around the corner, we added a few more colors for more options when the time arrives for him to move up and out of the crib.

Random – my favorite letter on this canvas is the “i” because it reminds me of a peanut.

I’m totally into painting stripes. I have to admit {because I rarely hold anything back} I hated painting stripes until I dropped the stripe perfection. Not that I don’t try to perfect my paintings, but I’m really not a fan of stripes that look taped off. So, once I figured out that the uneven-ness actually perfects the stripe, I’m all about painting stripes! My next painting has mostly stripes as well. And I just really typed out “stripe” seven times in this one paragraph. {okay, actually eight!}

Hi, my name is Kim . . .

So, it has been a while. ha!

Would you believe that I’ve had at least one sick kid since my last post . . . actually since two weeks before Christmas! But really, who is keeping up with that! As of December 24th, we have been to the doctor’s office 6 times. And by tomorrow, it will be 7 because Carson and Lawson have well check up visits although I’m thinking Lawson’s is going to be more of a I-got-green-snot-the-color-of-antifreeze-and-the-consistency-of-sludge-coming-out-of-my-nose appointment. Hudson went today with another sinus infection and pink eye! Sad part, with every appointment I go in with the diagnosis. I just need the doctor for the meds! At this point, I can diagnose just about anything! I can also tell you that the ‘24 hour after a fever is safe’ is a bunch a bull! Incubation periods can be up to 2 weeks long. And practically all symptoms are contagious – to include a sinus infection although a sinus infection is supposedly not. One of my best friends also has 4 kids and we say all the time we are going to write a book over childhood sickness. Between our 8 kids, I’d say we have seen quite a bit.

Four kids equates to a PhD.

Other than sickies, not much has been happening. I’ve received so many fabric swatches this week. And we know how I love swatches!

And I’m expecting at least one more envelope this week. This just about rounds out my last few orders!

Speaking of last few . . .

Here is a sneaky peeky that wasn’t completed in this picture, but is now! I should have just posted a picture of the completed piece, but it is soooo gloomy here and my art pictures always look pitiful on gloomy/cloudy days such as today. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll post!

AND finally . . .

my ribbon holder is up! It took awhile to find corbels large enough to hold the massive rolls of ribbon off the wall, yet small enough that it didn’t look like massive corbels holding a bunch of ribbon on the wall! You can’t tell at this angle, but the rod is WAY off the wall! I had it hanging a totally different way when the studio was in Em’s ‘now’ room. And basically, that really didn’t work as well as it could have. THIS {above pic} works wonderfully!

So, tomorrow – art post – officially 4 left to go!

Jacob . . .

Another “gift” off my list, but I do still have 5 paintings on my list! So-so-so close. So close that I can feel it!

“Oh happy day” – sing it with me!

(Oh happy day)

Oh happy DAY (Oh happy day) . . .

Sorry, I can get carried away.

But alas, I still have 5 and I still have several on my gift list! I am so glad that I have checked off another! Now, this design has been bouncing around in my head for some time. Actually, I kept going back and forth about painting this one and the “Cain” design for so long. I was just chicken to do it!

Don’t ask – just proof that we all have some kind of crazy insecurities!

But I’m glad I faced the fear and did it anyways. Something about this one gets my attention and keeps it.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of painting that the camera cannot cannot catch. And the fact that it is a dreary and gloomy day sure doesn’t help in the matter. I moved the painting all over the place trying to get the right light – with absolutely NO LUCK!

The close up photos tell a little better story. The color seems much better in these!

The walls in Jacob’s room are painted the lime green.

And I have swatches to show you!!!

Dead match.

I’m not bragging. But it was hard to match up these colors! And I did it! And I started dancing around my studio! Because I thought I finally met my match and I wasn’t going to be able to coordinate with the colors! BUT I DID!!!!

That’s all.

Have a great day! I’ve got to start on another painting.
