This information will CHANGE Your life . . .

especially if you have young kids.

Who like to eat spaghetti.

And are messy with it!

First off – if anyone knew this before I posted this – SHAME ON  YOU FOR NOT SHARING!!

Second – to my friends in real life . . . sorry for having to hear about this again! You knew with all the experimenting I was doing I had to tell the world! {Okay, maybe the 7 people who visit me.} So, get over it! ha!

Spaghetti Stains {or any tomato based sauce stains}

*Wash the item. Don’t worry about pretreating it.

*You can let it air dry or {gasp} dry it in the dryer!!! {I know! Doesn’t that sound crazy! Dryer normally means permanent!}

*Take the item outside.

*Lay it in the direct sunlight.

*Go inside and wait approximately 2 hours.

*Go back outside and smile a big fat grin and scream at the top of your lungs, “Kim Wheeler, YOU ARE A GENIUS!

{and if you are loud enough, I’m sure I’ll hear you!}

*Please, feel free to wash it again {or not} when you bring it back in.

I promise that stain will be gone – 100% – no residue – no outline – no greasy mark – NOTHING!!!

I’ve tried it on stains that were 2 years old – now gone {after about 45 minutes in sun.}

I’ve tried it on stains that have been washed and dried – now gone

I’ve tried it on pizza stains – now gone.

I’ve tried it  . . . . . . . . gone, gone and GONE!

I swear I would have never believed it if I didn’t try it myself.

And to prove I’m working – I swear I’m working . . . .

As a whole this one looks fantastic! BUT I’m not finished with it and there is no way I’m posting an unfinished painting – NO WAY, I said.

NOW, go eat some tomato based sauce and make sure you get some on your clothes.

About Kim
I picked up a paint brush for the first time 7 years ago, and haven't put it down since. My goal - To paint a canvas for my son's nursery. I never dreamed a business would be born out of it. {And if you saw the first canvas, you would think the same thing, too!}

  1. Your writing cracked me up :) We have two littles that occasionally wear some of their food and spaghetti ;) We will definitely have to try this!

    Oh Kim…this little tease of Caroline’s painting makes my day.

  3. HouseMama says:

    NO WAY! I can’t believe it. I am totally going to try this. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Wow, I’m going to try this and I will shout Kim Wheeler you’re a genius if it works! My daughter came home with a stain on her white Nike tennis shirt yesterday that I can not get out. We think it’s from her tennis racket. I’m going to try this. It can’t hurt!

  5. Patty says:

    Boy, Kim, this is a very timely post. I had bought new white denim capris over the summer and, stupidly, wore them to get pizza two weeks ago. Sunday I washed them, dried them, and as I was ironing them I saw an orangey spot…and another…and another. I must have sat on something at the pizzeria! I have them hanging in the closet where I keep looking at them saying, “What am I going to do?” Well, now I know – they’re going outside tomorrow! Thanks for the tip; I’ll let you know if it works!

    • Patty says:

      KIM WHEELER, YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!! yelled from northeastern Pennsylvania. I took my white capris outside today, kept moving them with the sun in the yard, and two hours later the orangey stains are GONE!! Thank you soooo much. Now, how do I remove the stain left by the bug I killed on the pants when I brought them inside? :)

  6. Hmmm… what do you do in the winter if you live where it’s cold? Does it still work? That’s a pretty neat trick, though.

  7. Love the sneak peek! And shame on me….I knew that.

  8. susie harris says:

    Just another reason why i love you so~

  9. Emily says:

    Seriously?? That is an awesome tip! And I don’t even have kids. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Megan says:

    It also works for people who do cloth diapers and “those” stains. Gotta love doing things au natural. Imagine all the money (and landfills) that would be saved if more people knew about the power of the sun! But my question… would it work to get rid of the stains that red sauce always puts on tupperware containers?!

  11. allison ledbetter says:

    Good to know! With Jade I soaked everything for days or weeks if need be. I know this will come in handy in the future. I wonder if it works on baby formula stains? I’ve been given{and seen some in consignment} some cute baby clothes that have formula stains. I’ll have to try it.

  12. I will definitely have to try this very soon. I get red sauce on my shirts all the time and wouldn’t you know, it happens every time I wear one of my favorite white tops. Drats! I will try it and report back.
    Do you think this will work on chocolate and coffee, too?

  13. Kay Drew says:

    “Kim Wheeler, YOU ARE A GENIUS!” Seriously! Thanks so much for sharing this! I tried it today with a lot of doubt but figured I had nothing to lose. I mean seriously, it was a spaghetti stain on a toddler’s brand new white shirt from a few months back. After sitting in her dresser ever since, I stuck it outside this morning. I brought it in later this afternoon with a big grin on my face when I saw that it really did work. :D Thanks again!

  14. Liz Roberts says:

    Did you hear me from central Oklahoma?? You should have! I tried it yesteday and it friggin’ works!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for saving a precious shirt and I’m sure, many to come! Wahoo!!!
